Does any know of a salon management system that's open source?
I've been searching a couple of open source sites I know of but haven't really found anything- the closest I've come is resource mgmt apps (like scheduling conference rooms, etc.)....
Functionality should allow one to schedule a person, note service, show calendar for all hairdressers...
retail and payment functions would be great too...

Tue, February 6, 2007 - 10:52 AMThere are several components in Joomla that allow for event scheduling and integrate a calendar. Of course it is hit and miss finding a component that has the exact functionality you need. You would probably have to do a bit of custom hacking to get things just right and you would need to download and install the components to get a real sense of what is possible and if they could be customized to fit what you need. There are commercial salon mgmt packages available; just trying to save my partner some $$.
I'm familiar with Joomla as I use it to run my site (www.softerwareconsulting.com) but have to say it's really overkill for that and I get frustrated because it's so hard (for me) to use. I'm actually going back to using WordPress for my site as I'll have more control over it and I know WP pretty well (as far as customizing it).
