Hi there I have a new website that was built by a friend of my but he is no longer here to help me. The site is built in Flash media format, and I need to be able to show different computers as they come into my inventory.
The website is www.computersruslv.com.
Please any help would be great.
Thanks

Re: new wesite
Wed, October 31, 2007 - 7:30 PMABANDON THE SITE NOW. Seriously. Why?
1.) Your primary objective is to market your inventory to potential customers, non? OK then... No one wants to be bogged down with flash when they are shopping unless the flash somehow enhances thier ability to make a decision on the purchase (ie. a 3d rotation, a screen cast of someone using the software, etc..). Even then flash should be used in isolated modules like a small product viewer or a particular menu, etc. - NOT AS THE BASIS FOR THE ENTIRE SITE.
2.) This site was created by your friend or who ever with a tool that is not standard - essentially a Printmaster Gold of website design.... Thus should you need osmeone to update functionality (not content) youre going to be hard pressed to find someone to do that for you quickly and affordably. More importantly You have to pay for that useless piece of software/service in order to continue to use it. see here for their product details: www.trendyflash.com
3.) Becuase you have not purchased a paid version of the software mentioned in #2 you have that highly unprofessional logo that pops up over your site for all your potential customers to see. Furthermore it will probably lack some of the key functionality from your perspective (for instance a limited number of content updates within a given time period).
If youre interested in investing in having a site built that will meet your needs feel free to contact me via private message and we can discuss. It would depend on what you actually want/need feature-wise but i think i could produce something that gets you most of the core functionality you need for $600-1050. If you dont have the budget to hire someone i understand, but i would recommend that you find a another friend who can build a proper site for you.

Re: new wesite
Thu, November 1, 2007 - 8:40 AMAs usual, Pixel is right on the money. There isn't much more that I find annoying than a site where the user's first experience is a "Loading" box. The fact that the software used to create the site is unregistered and has this giant ad for that software covering your site does not help in the least. I didn't go any further into the site, because, well, after what I saw, as a user, I wouldn't go in.
I want the information I'm looking for *right now*, not covered in Flash sillyness.
Drop the existing site, I'm sorry to say. There are plenty of people here who can help you out with that.

Wed, October 31, 2007 - 9:06 PMJesse, I hate to be a buzzkill but I have to agree with the PixieSlut. Ditch the flash, the wow factor is overpowering. You'd be better off with a minimal style barebones HTML site that just shows the wares. You could pick up a book like the Visual Quickstart guide to HTML, XHTML & CSS and have something basic and functional up in no time. Even older versions of Photoshop have an automation feature to make mini-galleries of each product pretty painless.
